Welcome to the U9s.
Playing rugby and other sports should produce young adults who can demonstrate good cognitive skills, resilience, and creative thinking. Our aim for the under U9s when growing up is that they show a positive attitude towards physical activity, respect for the core values of rugby, and have a strong love of the game. As a coaching team, we put children at the heart of everything we do and all the decisions we make. We encourage fun on the pitch through fun, skilled games. Having the parents join in and help is excellent, as we see them as part of our Rugby family. We hope as a team that the children will transition to adult rugby and share their enthusiasm for the sport with others.
We have roughly 28 children aged between 8 and 9, and we definitely have a competitive edge.
Their enthusiasm is infectious, and they show great team spirit, helping us set up and put the kit away as well as helping new children who are starting out and showing them where the equipment is kept, etc. Despite their age, they turn up whatever the weather with a smile on their face and get stuck in to the training straight away.
In the years we have been together, we have held and been to numerous team bonding activities such as the Halloween Themed training session and more recent summer water games and Mothers Day training. We are looking forward to the season ahead, and we hope to see you all there.
