Warriors continue to go from strength to strength

Worriors Big Weekender 23

The strength in depth at North Walsham RFC is clear to see as we successfully field a 3rd XV – The Warriors, on a weekly basis. This was recognised last season by being awarded a mid-season promotion to Eastern Counties Division 2 North. Thanks largely to the hard work of Scotty Blyth the squad sometimes has 30 players to choose from.

In the past and prior to the promotion the Warriors has been seen very much as a social team. Whilst it is critical that it does not loose this identity there is a very real need for the Warriors to become part of the Walsham “Bigger Picture” especially as we drive forward being an inclusive club. With this in mind, Scotty will be working with the new DoR and the Colts coaching team to help those younger players who may not be ready for Viking or Raiders rugby to transition into senior rugby, and with our squad growing all the time the Warriors will also be a stepping stone into the Raiders.

The Warriors will also be the platform for ensuring new players are welcomed to the club and given game time. Due to the hard work of Scotty and some of the regular Warrior Players, there is a really good chance that a sponsor for the playing kit will be announced shortly – more on that in the next couple of weeks!
