New manager for the Vikings

Simon Locke has been appointed 1st team manager at North Walsham, replacing the retiring Kim Hooker.

Welcoming Simon, Seb Anthony, rugby operations director, said: “We’re really pleased to have Simon on board and we look forward to working with him as our Vikings team grows and develops over the forthcoming seasons. He has big boots to fill: Kim Hooker has done a sterling job over many seasons and the whole club’s thanks go out to him.”

Simon, 41, played rugby up to youth level for Norwich, where he was a handy second row. Forsaking rugby for golf, he became involved with England golf teams at youth level and now works within retail and memberships at Sprowston Manor Golf Club.

He said: “10 years ago, I came to watch the Vikings at Scottow and fell in love with the atmosphere, support and whole environment of the club. Kim has done an amazing job and now I’m looking forward to building friendships within the whole squad. They are the people that all the players look up to and I’d love to see them interacting with the youth and mini sections to show them how, one day, they could all become Vikings themselves!”
